How East Timor Guide handles your data: no cookies, cookie-free analytics, anonymous WhatsApp click counts, our hosting provider, and your rights.

The short version
East Timor Guide does not use cookies, does not run advertising trackers, and does not ask you to create an account. We collect as little as we can: anonymous visit statistics, an anonymous count of clicks on partner WhatsApp buttons, and the emails you choose to send us.
Analytics
We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views. It does not use cookies and does not identify individual visitors; it records aggregated data such as the pages viewed, the referring site, the country and the type of device and browser. We use it only to understand which guides are useful.
Partner WhatsApp buttons
When you click a "Chat on WhatsApp" button for a partner listing, the link passes through a short redirect on our site (/go/…) before opening WhatsApp. For each click we record the button, the page it was on, the country (from our hosting provider's network data) and the time. We do not record your IP address, device details, phone number or anything you write in WhatsApp. The prefilled message includes a short code, such as [ETG-DILI], so the partner knows you found them through us. Your conversation then takes place directly between you and the partner on WhatsApp, under WhatsApp's own privacy policy.
If you email us, we use your address and message only to reply and to improve the guides. We do not add you to a mailing list or share your details. Ask us at any time to delete your messages.
Hosting and sub-processors
The site is hosted by Vercel Inc., which processes the technical data needed to serve web pages. Like any web host, Vercel's servers handle request data such as IP addresses to deliver pages and protect the service, under its own privacy policy. Vercel also provides the analytics described above.
Our sub-processors, the companies that process data on our behalf, are:
- Vercel Inc. (United States): website hosting, content delivery, server logs and Web Analytics.
- Our email provider: receiving and storing the emails you send us.
Fonts are served from our own domain, and pages do not load content from social networks or advertising services. Links to Google Maps, operators' websites and social media pages take you to those services, which have their own privacy policies.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you. Because we hold almost none, most requests concern emails you have sent us. Contact hello@easttimorguide.com and we will respond within 30 days.
Changes
We will update this page if the way we handle data changes, and change the date at the top.
