Partner Disclosure Policy

How East Timor Guide works with hotels and tour partners: how partners are labelled, how tracked WhatsApp links work, and what partners cannot buy.

Updated

The short version

Some places to stay on this site are partners, and we may be credited when you contact them through our links. Partners are always labelled with a "Partner" badge and a disclosure note on the same page.

Current partners

  • Hotel Dongshan, Comoro, Dili: accommodation partner since September 2026.

What partners get

  • A clearly labelled listing with a WhatsApp button.
  • Enquiries from our readers, marked with a short source code (for example [ETG-DILI]) so they know where the enquiry came from.

What partners cannot buy

  • Positive coverage. We describe partners with the same honesty as everyone else, including downsides.
  • Rankings. Partners are shown first in directories and labelled as partners; everything else is ordered by price.
  • Exclusivity. "Where to stay" pages always include good non-partner options.
  • Reviews or ratings. We do not publish star ratings, and we never invent reviews.

Partner buttons point to a short link on our own domain (for example /go/dongshan/). It sends you straight to WhatsApp with a pre-written message you can edit before sending. We record only that a click happened, which link it was and roughly which country it came from. We do not collect your name, number or messages, and we store no personal data. These links are marked nofollow and excluded from search engines.
